When Can My Child Join Scouting?
Starting age for Beavers is usually 6 however there is some flexibility in the age range and sometimes young people can join from as young as 5 ¾ . Looking ahead, children can join Cubs from around the age of 8 and Scouts from 10 ½ . Explorer Scouting starts at 14 and runs until Scouts are 18. After Explorers, Young adults move to Scout Network which allows them to participate in the Scout programme until they are 25.
However, the Joining List is not strictly linear, several factors will be taken into consideration to ensure that the young person gets a quality time in scouting. Which may mean if your child gets close to the upper age range for their current section, they maybe bumped to the next sections waiting list.
As a voluntary organisation, sometimes we may not have the capacity or space to offer your child a place immediately. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
